Tanzania
This half term, 4D are learning about Tanzania, which is a country in Africa. Miss Conners, who is the T.A. in 4B has been going to Africa since the age of 15 and has since been going there every year to help and support a school for orphans. The school is run by volunteers. Miss Conners has got videos and lots of pictures about the school, children and families. We have learnt so much. Thanks to Miss Conners. It’ts made us open our eyes and hearts and it’s made us relize how lucky we are. Also all of year 4’s children want help.

We did it folks! On the 21st January 2010 Mr D Booth and Mrs Shehzad accompanied two children from year 6, Hasna and Amba who represent the healthy school went to the town hall to recieve the silver National Healthy Status Award. Well done to all at Birchfields and all parents and carers who are supporting the children and making sure that we are becoming a healthier school also a healthier nation.
If we continue the way we are and just try that little bit harder, who knows but maybe just maybe we could go for gold…. come on, I know we can do it.

We went to Dunham Massey last month, to get the actual feel of what it was like to live in the victorian times. I must say that was one of the most the most amazing trips that I have been on. The whole class including adults had to dress-up in victorian clothes, then we all ended up doing some play acting with the actors. We met the lord and lady Dunham(actors) who lived in the huge house with the massive ground. The house alone had fifty room. In the ground there were herds of deers roaming around. After lunch we all got put into groups and went to different parts of the servants house with the servants to do different jobs. By the end of the day we arrived back at school exhausted but, it’s one trip I shall always remember that made me wonder what it it must have been like to live in the victorian times.
